How fun these last two days have been reading all of your comments! And lest you think I felt bad for those of you who had to leave two comments because of Vox sporadic deletions, I didn't: it gave me that many more comments to receive, and I just gotta say, I think receiving comments on our blog is no doubt one thing at the top of my list of a perfect day! But in all sincerity, I am sorry for the inconvenience of having to resubmit your answers! Vox has already received notification from me about this "bug", or whatever it is that desperately needs fixin'! I hope it doesn't deter you from leaving comments again, 'cause that is not at the top of my list of what makes a perfect day.
Onto the real news: we have a winner for our Blogoversary Giveaway! I went to Random.org's Integer Generator to select the lucky winner who has a choice of a $30 gift card to either 1) Amazon.com 2) iTunes or 3) Starbucks. So I told the generator to pick a number between 1 and 10 (the number of contestants--excluding the 2nd entries needed for some of you, and excluding Ruth since she bowed out of this contest because she won the last giveaway).
And here's what it picked:
Congratulations, Dad! You are the special winner of our Blogoversary Giveaway! Leave a comment indicating which gift you'd like to receive: either a Amazon.com, iTunes, or Starbucks gift card!
Thank you so much for playing, everyone! I love giveaways! There will be more for sure, so for those who didn't win this time, don't give up! And if you haven't checked out the awesome guest post yet, click here to read it. Again, thanks for celebrating our 1 year Blogoversary with us, and stick around for the next year. It will be no less than one great adventure!
All right y'all. This is eating at the perfectionist side in me like nothing else. And the thought that I'd like to be a professional blogger one day...ha! Someone is laughing somewhere, hopefully. But it ain't me...well, at least not at the moment. I suddenly had realization of what I had done laying in bed this morning (I told you I think a lot about blogging) and boy, I got outta bed fast! There's nothing worse than creating confusion and distress for my readers...readers, no less, who expect to win a prize. I'll likely have an angry mob come after me. Hopefully my big, burly husband will protect me? Or maybe my tough and gruff Labrador?
Anyhoo, in posting the rules for the Blogoversary Giveaway, I put the right date numbers, but the wrong day of the week! So some people think the giveaway ended "Wednesday night the 17th", but in actuality, the 17th is Thursday, and I had every intention of letting the contest run through Thursday, with the winner announced the morning (CST) of Friday, the 18th. Corrections are made on the actual Blogoversary Getaway post.
So I'm really sorry for my goof up! Don't give up on me y'all! Don't give up! And keep playing the Giveaway. I'm going to stick to my original intent to have the contest end at 11 p.m. CST on the 17th (which is Thursday!), and the winner announced on the morning CST of the 18th (which is Friday!). That's what I get for writing the dad-gummit post a day early. Now, I'm going to go hide under my turtle shell for awhile. But you all: click here to keep playin' and keep those comments rollin' in!
UPDATE!! See very bottom of post for details!
Are you ready for a GIVEAWAY? Are you ready to win a prize? How bad do you want it!?
Here at Ink Pots, it's time to celebrate! Tomorrow, April 17th, will be our 1 year Blogoversary! To celebrate, we want to first of all say, "Thank you" to all of our readers! Some of you we know, some we don't, but it's you that makes blogging fun with your interaction, dialog and support. And because we love you, we're going to have a giveaway (I should say I'm going to have a giveaway, because to my knowledge, Matt isn't contributing to this little giveaway...at least he hasn't offered to anyway!).
It's really simple. All you have to do is briefly post your answer to one of the following questions in the Comments section of this post (you may pick whichever question you want to answer...but just pick one):
1) What has been your favorite book, or a book that has impacted you the most, that you've read this past year and why?
2) If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you want to go and why?
THE PRIZE: Winner's choice of a $30 gift certificate for either 1) Amazon.com 2) iTunes or 3) Starbucks
You can post a comment two ways. The first way is through our main homepage (http://inkpots.vox.com). If you're the first person to leave a comment, there will be a link that says "Post a Comment" underneath the post title, or if a comment has already been made, you can still click on that same comment link even if it says "1 comment". Clicking on the little comment icon underneath the title will always take you to a page you can leave a comment on. The second way to leave a comment is to actually click on the title of the blog entry, in this case Blogoversary Giveaway, and it will bring up the post as well as provide a place at the bottom of the screen to post your comment. At this time, Vox does not allow anonymous comments, so to leave a comment, it will require you to create a free Vox account with a user name and password. Click here to register. It's quite painless, and that way, you have an account already set up for any future comments you'd like to make. You know you wanna do it!!
One entry per person, please. No entries after 11:00 p.m. Central
Standard Time on Wednesday, Thursday, April 17th. Winner will be selected
randomly from among the entries using Random.org's Random Integer
Generator. Winner will be announced the morning (CST) of Thursday Friday, the
18th!

Have fun!!
Since we haven't had any additional answers submitted to our Ink Pots Scavenger Hunt in more than 24 hours, we thought we should go ahead and reveal the anticipated results from our blog contest. So without further ado, a big congratulations goes to Ruth Scully!
She was the first one who turned in all of the answers correctly, and is the recipient of a $30 gift certificate to Outback, which will be a nice little date for she and Ed, assuming Ed is the person she will invite. <grin>Here are the questions and answers, along with the archived post where they were found:
QUESTIONS:
- What role did Meg play in the karaoke contest during staff fun day?
- What is the game that Meg's dad invented that the two of them would play when Meg was little?

My most favorite answer that made me bust out laughing was submitted by my friend, Hillary, to the question "As Matt grows older, what is it that he doesn't mind having?". In addition to the correct answer of wisdom (grey) hairs, she also put "or being able to eat all the ice cream pie leftovers himself", which Matt would wholeheartedly agree with! Knowing me though, his chances of this happening are slim to none.
We also received some great answers to the bonus question, "If you could choose anything for Matt and Meg to blog about next, what would it be?" So we'll work on those; stay tuned.
Thank you to all who participated! We had a great time putting the contest together and hope our readers enjoyed it as well. We appreciate you all! For little Julie, we will make more blog contests just for you!
Congratulations, Ruth!

If you could choose anything for Matt and Meg to blog about next, what would it be?
I don't know how I lost track, but it seems that my post Things That I Love, That Make My Soul Glad, written on the 15th of February, was an Ink Pots milestone: it was our 100th blog post! Originally, I planned to do something commemorative for my personal 100th post, as opposed to a combined post total between me and Matt, but that would be too hard to keep track of because of how our tags work, and I gotta emphasize the team part of this duo blog as much as possible to keep Matt writing (another thing, by the way, that makes my soul glad)! So in celebration of our 100th blog post, we are going to have a contest for our beloved readers!
At noon (CST) on Thursday the 21st, we will post the Ink Pots Scavenger Hunt, and the first person to answer all of the questions correctly will win their choice of a $30 gift certificate to either 1) Amazon.com 2) Netflix or 3) Outback. The contest will close at midnight (CST) on Sunday the 24th. The questions will be about the content of any of our 100 posts. You may immediately remember the answer from reading the post, or you may have to hunt for the answer within the posts that are archived by date (you can find them in the left-side column on our homepage: http://inkpots.vox.com). Here are some examples of the types of questions that may be asked:
2. What character in Lord of the Rings does Meg wish she could be more like?
3. How many points did Matt's basketball team score their first game?
There will be ten questions total, with one bonus question. You can answer the questions by posting a comment on the post that will be called Ink Pots Scavenger Hunt, which will appear at noon (CST) on the 21st. Just list the question number with your answer (using the questions above as an example: 1. a new email in her inbox 2. Eowyn 3. 22).
